CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — In an effort to boost self-reliance among Public Housing Agency residents and those receiving specific rental assistance, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has introduced a new rule. This announcement was made in Champaign last Friday by Scott Turner, a former Illinois Football player and the current Secretary of Housing and Urban Development.

During his visit to the Housing Authority of Champaign County (HACC), Turner highlighted HACC as a model Public Housing Agency. Unlike many others, HACC has implemented specific requirements for assistance eligibility, demonstrating a proactive approach toward fostering independence.
