Undercover Video Leads to Suspension of Secret Service Agent

WASHINGTON (NewsNation) — An undercover video has prompted the Secret Service to place an agent on administrative leave, suspending his clearance, following a conversation where he disclosed sensitive information about his duties on Vice President JD Vance’s protective detail.

The video captures the agent during what appears to be a date, discussing his responsibilities in securing the Vice President. He talks about the logistics of Vance’s movements to and from his Naval Observatory residence and even displays his badge upon the woman’s request.

“The U.S. Secret Service maintains a zero-tolerance policy for actions that might jeopardize the safety, privacy, or trust of those we are tasked to protect. This incident is currently under investigation. The employee involved has been placed on administrative leave, with his clearance suspended and his access to agency facilities and systems revoked,” stated Deputy Secret Service Director Matthew Quinn in a communication to NewsNation.

The authenticity of the video has been confirmed, and it was initiated by conservative activist James O’Keefe. O’Keefe’s team is known for recording undercover videos of public figures and journalists, often revealing controversial remarks or insights into their employers.

“The U.S. Secret Service has also issued an order for all personnel to retake the agency’s required anti-espionage training in order to ensure employees are aware of the threats posed by individuals aiming to exploit agency employees for information about our protective operations,” Quinn said.

The Secret Service is not confirming the name of the suspended agent because of privacy requirements.

The agent has worked for the Secret Service for about five years.
