CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — The pipeline that has seemingly formed from the Eastern European circuit to Illini basketball has not come without its challenges.

Brad Underwood shared with media that Zvonimir Ivisic and David Mirkovic are still in the process of obtaining the necessary paperwork and approval to play for Illinois this fall.

“There’s a lot that goes into it with translation of transcripts and and eligibility and so on and so forth,” said Underwood. “So we feel very, very good about those processes. “Then, you know, get an I-20 issued and then, you know, an appointment for a visa and we’ll still have to work through some of that and we’ll see where that goes, because at this point, we we truthfully don’t know. But we’re, we’re hopeful sooner than later.”

Zvonimir Ivisic transfered to Illinois to join his twin brother Tomislav after stints at Kentucky and Arkansas. Mirkovic is poised to enter Illinois as a freshman, a Montenegrin forward out of the Adriatic League which produced Kasparas Jakucionis and the Ivisic twins.
