CHARLESTON, Ill. (WCIA) — Ruby Tarr left an indelible mark during her two-year stint with Western Illinois University’s softball program.
As a standout for the Unity Rockets, Tarr was named to the All-OVC Newcomer team in her freshman year. She continued to excel, achieving first-team all-conference recognition in her sophomore year thanks to a stellar .355 batting average and 33 RBIs.
Following a shift in the coaching staff at Western Illinois, Tarr decided to explore her options via the transfer portal. Eastern Illinois University (EIU) emerged as her ideal next step, fulfilling all her criteria for a new academic and athletic environment.
“They are dedicated to winning and will encourage me to reach my full potential and replicate my past achievements this season,” Tarr shared. “I’m enthusiastic about evolving with the team, getting to know the girls better—I’ve already met some, and it feels like we share a unified objective.”
Tarr is poised to continue her collegiate journey as a junior with an EIU squad that has recently secured consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances and claimed OVC regular-season championships.
