Illini heading to Milwaukee as six-seed

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) – Illinois men’s basketball is a six seed in the 2025 NCAA tournament.

The Illini will play an eleven seed, the winner of an Xavier and Texas first four matchup, in Milwaukee for the opening round on Friday March 21. If Illinois advances to the round of 32, it will play the winner of three seed Kentucky and Troy.

It’s the fifth-straight year the Illini are in the NCAA tournament.

Illinois enters the big dance 21-12 overall. The Illini won three games in a row to end the regular season before beating Iowa and losing to Maryland in the Big Ten Tournament.
