CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Just in time for Saint Patrick’s Day celebrations, the Champaign Park District introduced a new event that had tails wagging and spirits soaring. For the first time ever, they hosted the Lucky Dog 5K race, marking a festive occasion for both humans and their four-legged companions.
The event kicked off at Heritage Park, where over 100 participants, accompanied by their eager dogs, embarked on a three-mile run. Those who crossed the finish line were awarded gleaming gold medals, a testament to their endurance. For the younger or smaller pups, a half-mile route was also available, ensuring that every pooch had their moment to shine.
