SAVANNAH, Ga. — Tuesday afternoon brought sunny skies and temperatures that climbed into the mid-70s, a noticeable warm-up from last Friday.

Temperatures are set to rise even further throughout the remainder of the workweek and into the weekend.

A substantial high-pressure system previously centered over the southeastern United States has shifted eastward. This shift is ushering in more humid conditions from the south.

Overnight into Wednesday morning, temperatures are predicted to dip into the upper 40s to lower 50s.

Late Tuesday night, areas of patchy and dense fog are likely to form, potentially reducing visibility to near zero at times by Wednesday morning.

Be sure to allow yourself extra time to get to work and school Wednesday morning. Utilize your car’s low beams to maximize your ability to see through the fog.

Once the fog mixes out of the atmosphere, Wednesday afternoon will be a pretty nice day. The sky will be mainly sunny and afternoon highs will warm into the lower to middle 80s.

Very warm high temperatures are expected to continue into the weekend and record highs will be challenged in Savannah.

  • Wednesday – Forecast: 82°F, Record: 85°F (1942)
  • Thursday – Forecast: 82°F, Record: 83°F (1942)
  • Friday – Forecast: 81°F, Record: 82°F (2011)
  • Saturday – Forecast: 80°F, Record: 82°F (1997)

A cold front is forecast to move into the Coastal Empire and Lowcountry on Saturday. This system will bring some rain and thunderstorm activity into the southeastern U.S. However, it will begin to weaken as it moves into our area.

Only a few isolated showers or storms are possible Saturday afternoon and evening. High temperatures ahead of the front will be in the upper 70s to lower 80s.

Sunday will only become slightly cooler after the cold front clears out of the region. High temperatures will remain in the lower to middle 70s with that trend continuing for Monday and Tuesday.

Looking ahead to the later part of next week for Thanksgiving, there are some changes on the way.

Wednesday right now looks to be a partly cloudy and mild day. A few spotty showers are possible. Temperatures will be in low to mid 70s.

A strong cold front is forecast to move in on Thanksgiving, and it will bring us the opportunity for a few showers. Temperatures will warm into the 70s.

Friday will be a cool and breezy day for Black Friday shopping. Temperatures will warm only into the mid and upper 60s.
