(NEXSTAR) – In the coming months, nearly a dozen additional states are set to implement stricter guidelines on purchases made through SNAP benefits.
This initiative is part of a broader effort encouraging SNAP recipients to choose healthier food options—what the Trump administration refers to as “real food.”
Recently, several states have introduced new rules limiting how SNAP benefits can be used. Generally, these regulations prohibit the use of SNAP funds for buying soda, energy drinks, and candy.
