Urbana Free Library to close, preparing for construction

URBANA, Ill. (WCIA) — The Urbana Free Library will close later this week to prepare for construction.

The library will be closed Thursday and Friday. Construction on the first floor and in Megan’s Room play area on the ground floor is expected to begin on or around Friday, Aug. 1.

Once construction is finished, part of the first floor of the library will have a redesigned welcome desk area, new carpet, paint and furniture. Megan’s Room will be remodeled, including new carpet and fresh paint.

Curbside pick-up will still be available both Thursday and Friday while the library is closed. You can visit the library’s website to make an appointment.

While construction is going on, the library will temporarily have different hours. Beginning Aug. 2, the library will be open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from 12-5 p.m.
