URBANA, Ill. (WCIA) — The City of Urbana is planning to hold a groundbreaking celebration for a much-anticipated coffee business.
Urbana’s Dutch Bros Coffee, which will be located at the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and Green Street, will be the first location in the state, the city said.
“We’re excited to welcome Dutch Bros Coffee to Urbana,” Urbana Mayor DeShawn Williams said in a news release. “It’s more than just coffee. It’s a fresh, energetic hangout for our residents, students, and visitors. This new spot adds to the vibe and momentum of Urbana and Campustown.”
Dutch Bros is expected to open later in 2025. It will offer coffee drinks, teas, smoothies and energy drinks. The business was founded in 1992 and has since expanded to more than 800 locations in the United States.
“We are proud to have worked with Dutch Bros Coffee on their Illinois expansion over the
past year and a half, and elated they selected Urbana as the first Dutch Bros in the state,” said Andrea Ruedi, senior advisor for integrated strategy development for the City of Urbana. “Their location at Green and Lincoln will serve both daily commuters and University of Illinois
students, adding a fresh and exciting new coffee option in the community.”
The groundbreaking celebration will take place at the site of the future coffee shop, 809 West Green Street in Urbana, on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
