TOPEKA (KSNT) – In a concerning development, federal health authorities have broadened a recall involving tater tot products, now impacting more than 24 states across the U.S. The reason for this action stems from a potential contamination with hard plastic pieces.

These tater tots, produced by McCain Foods in Idaho, were dispatched in bulk to various food service clients. Notably, these items were not available for purchase in retail stores, as detailed in a recall notice issued by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The FDA, on Tuesday, announced an addition to the voluntary recall, incorporating extra batch codes. This step was taken due to the discovery of “foreign materials”—specifically small, hard plastic fragments—within the products.
