An alert from the Food and Drug Administration has advised consumers to carefully inspect their shredded cheese purchases. This comes after a recall by an Ohio-based firm, which identified that products distributed across 31 states might be contaminated with metal fragments.

Initially announced on October 3, the recall by Great Lakes Cheese Co. has now been escalated to a Class II classification. This status indicates that while the product may cause temporary health issues or medical conditions that are reversible, the likelihood of severe health effects is considered low, as per the FDA’s guidelines.
