CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — A boil order was issued in Champaign on Tuesday following emergency repairs to a service line, affecting several buildings, including a local preschool. The incident underscores the complexities of maintaining vital infrastructure while ensuring public safety.
Crews from Illinois American Water initiated the repairs on South Country Fair Drive due to what was described as “service line retirement.” This necessary maintenance began around 9:30 a.m. and was projected to last between four to six hours, as workers focused on addressing the issue promptly to minimize disruption.
