WASHINGTON (WDCW) – On Monday evening in Washington, D.C., a U.S. Park Police officer fell victim to a shooting described by the department’s chief as an ambush orchestrated by at least two assailants, who remain at large.
During a press briefing, U.S. Park Police (USPP) revealed that the officer was traveling in an unmarked police car through Southeast D.C. around 7:30 p.m. when the attack occurred. The officer was hit by gunfire and subsequently airlifted to a local hospital with a wound to the upper body, which authorities confirmed was not life-threatening.
Fortunately, the officer was discharged from the hospital by Tuesday morning.
