SAVANNAH, Ga. () — The USC-Beaufort softball team took both games of a twin bill against Savannah State on Feb. 7.
Both teams came into the doubleheader with identical 3-1 records to start the season. For USC-Beaufort, it was the second straight year they achieved the mark. For Savannah State, it was the first time since 2021.
The visitors wasted little time getting on the board in their half of the first inning. USC-Beaufort touched home plate seven times.
Savannah State was unable to score in the bottom half and left two runners stranded after a double by Ambria Guye.
USC-Beaufort won the first game, 18-3, and the second game, 10-2.
USC-Beaufort returns to action on Feb. 8. The Sand Sharks play a doubleheader with Eckered at the Richard Gray Sports Complex.
As for the Savannah State, they will be off for nearly two weeks. Their next game is Feb. 19 at home against College of Coastal Georgia. The first pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for 1 p.m.
