VALDOSTA, Ga. — Over the weekend, two individuals were wounded in separate shooting incidents near the Valdosta Mall, as reported by a spokesperson from the Valdosta Police Department on Monday.
The first incident occurred early Saturday morning, around 1 a.m., involving a 21-year-old man who sustained a gunshot wound to his leg. Officials noted that the injury was not life-threatening.
Officers with the Valdosta Police Department were investigating reports of gunfire from a concerned resident when the injured man arrived at a local hospital seeking treatment.
On the following day, a second shooting took place in the vicinity, just outside Fins and Feathers. Police responded to calls around 1:10 a.m. regarding a large altercation and gunfire in the parking area.
A 28-year-old man involved in this incident had already left the scene, making his way to the hospital by car, according to the police spokesperson.
The 28-year-old had been shot in his upper torso and is now in critical, but stable condition according to officials.
Detectives have determined that there was a fight inside the restaurant, which moved outside into the parking lot when a firearm was shot several times.
Both cases are still under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Valdosta Police Department.
