TITUSVILLE, Fla. – Early Thursday morning began with a troubling discovery for the managers of a local funeral home. As Aimee Mendiola, the funeral home manager, arrived at around 5:30 a.m., she reviewed the surveillance footage and uncovered a case of vandalism. This incident posed a significant challenge as the funeral home was set to assist three grieving families that day, all requiring transportation services.
“We were in a bit of a scramble, reaching out to nearby funeral homes to see if anyone had spare vehicles they could lend us, as it seemed everyone had a full schedule today,” Mendiola explained.
While the funeral home managed to repair the vehicles promptly, Mendiola noted that the incident was both a financial burden and a source of stress as they worked to ensure families received the services they needed.
Aimee Mendiola praised Alex from Fire Tire for his swift response, which was crucial in getting the funeral home back on track.
“He picked up the call immediately, was on the scene within 10 minutes, and handled everything himself, resolving our problem incredibly fast,” she recounted appreciatively.
Even with the repairs completed, Mendiola said she wishes whoever is responsible had handled the situation differently.
“It could’ve been a conversation… I really can’t think of who,” she said. “We didn’t have anyone disgruntled… so I just kind of wish that whatever it was, it could’ve been a phone call — a conversation in person — so that I could understand, because we always try to do the right things by families, even if they are upset.”
Her bigger concern now is safety.
“It worries me because I have employees coming and going throughout the night. It worries me for their safety,” Mendiola said.
Police are reviewing surveillance images and asking anyone who recognizes the suspect or has information to contact Titusville Police.
Titusville PD also tells News 6’s Ashley Garrett this case has potential to be treated as a felony.
