ORLANDO, Fla. – On Wednesday, a major service disruption affected a significant number of Verizon customers, as reported by Downdetector. This platform is known for monitoring service interruptions across various sectors, including internet, social media, web hosting, banking, gaming, entertainment, and more worldwide.
By 2 p.m., the site had logged outage reports from approximately 180,000 individuals experiencing the disruption.
Many users have encountered an “SOS” alert on their devices, indicating an inability to place or receive calls.
Downdetector’s data highlighted key cities like New York City, Miami, Atlanta, Dallas, Charlotte, Houston, and Philadelphia as the most affected by these outages.
In response, Verizon addressed the situation with a message on its X account.
“We are aware of an issue impacting wireless voice and data services for some customers. Our engineers are engaged and are working to identify and solve the issue quickly. We understand how important reliable connectivity is and apologize for the inconvenience.”
