What NOT to Do 101: Jail Edition
We don’t know who needs to hear this, but here we go!!
Step 1: Have a friend get arrested.
Step 2: Call an Uber and load yourself up to bond them out with suitcases and a duffel bag that smell like Cheech & Chong’s vacation luggage.
Step 3: Walk those bags straight across the guard lines into the jail lobby like it’s no big deal.
(Yes… this actually happened last week at the Bryan County Jail.)
Pretty soon, everyone in the lobby started noticing the overwhelming aroma of marijuana wafting from this gentleman’s belongings. Realizing the cat (or skunk) was out of the bag, he moved everything back outside, because obviously, nothing says ‘great plan’ like relocating your felony ten feet to the left.
Enter K9 Vasko. He didn’t hesitate. Our K9 hit that duffel bag with the enthusiasm of a kid spotting free ice cream! Inside was a felony amount of marijuana and, for that extra wow-factor, a firearm was also discovered.
So instead of bonding his friend out of jail, this man managed to score himself:
- 2 counts of Crossing Guard Lines with Illegal Narcotics/Firearm(felony)
- Felony Possession of Marijuana Over an Ounce
- Felony Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
Friendly reminder: If you’re planning to visit the Sheriff’s Office, please don’t bring your stash and your gun. That’s not how you help your buddy get out of jail. That’s how you make sure you get a bunk right next to them!
