PALM COAST, Fla. (WFLA) — A man from New York was accused of causing a disturbance at a Palm Coast liquor store on Wednesday after an employee refused to sell him more alcohol.

According to the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to Sharps Discount Liquors around 2 p.m.

Before arriving on the scene, dispatchers told deputies that a man, identified as Jeffrey Kimmel, 38, had a large knife in his waistband and was sitting on the top of a counter inside the liquor store, spitting and throwing glass bottles all over the floor.

The store employee recounted to deputies how Kimmel entered the store and purchased four liquor shots, later returning to buy more. When the clerk refused to sell him more, Kimmel jumped on the counter and began screaming at her. He then started kicking items off the counter while the employee and other customers locked themselves in the back room.

Deputies said Kimmel was acting erratically before they removed him from the store. Once outside, Kimmel began kicking, screaming, and spitting at deputies, resulting in a spit mask being placed over his head.

The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office arrested Kimmel, and he is facing multiple charges, including criminal mischief over $1,000.

Deputies estimate that Kimmel caused over $20,000 in damages.
