Virginia High School Football Coach Wanted: $5,000 Reward Up for Grabs

WISE COUNTY, Va. (WJHL) — In a bid to apprehend Travis Turner, a high school football coach from Virginia facing serious child pornography charges, the U.S. Marshals Service has announced a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to his capture.

Recently, the Virginia State Police disclosed that 10 warrants have been issued against Turner. These include five counts of possessing child pornography and another five counts related to using a computer to solicit a minor.

On November 20, investigators from the Virginia State Police were headed to Turner’s residence in Appalachia as part of their ongoing investigation. According to their statement, the visit was not intended to arrest him. However, upon arrival, they discovered the Union High School football coach had vacated the premises.

Authorities have since dedicated several days to tracking down the 46-year-old Turner, concentrating their search efforts around his home area. Despite these efforts, they have not yet succeeded in locating him.

An attorney for the Turner family provided a statement to Nexstar’s WJHL on Nov. 29, stating Turner left his home to “walk in the woods with a firearm” on Nov. 20, which was the last time his family had contact with him.

U.S. Marshals announced Monday that it was seeking Turner along with the Virginia State Police (VSP).

The U.S. Marshals’ poster on Turner described him as being 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighing 235 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. Authorities noted he may be armed.

Anyone who sees Turner or has information about his location is asked to contact 911, the Virginia State Police or the U.S. Marshals.
