Voters react to President Trump's first 100 days

SAVANNAH, Ga — President Donald Trump’s 100 days in office in his second term marks a milestone in his presidency.

His slew of executive orders has had a major impact on the economy, but people we talked to are split on whether it has been bad or good for the average American.

“I would think that most people are probably freaking out right now, but I think that if you paid attention to what he said on the campaign trail, it shouldn’t come too much as a shock as far as the tariffs,” Stephen Mcelwee said.

The President admitted that steep tariffs could cause economic pain, but insisted prices would eventually come down. The administration has since announced a 90-day pause following the announcement of sweeping reciprocal tariffs.

All of this sparking conversation among voters.

“I think a lot of people didn’t understand that tariffs were going to cost everyday person money, and they thought it would somehow create equality and trade with other countries,” Srae Christensen said. “But it’s really costing the individual money.”

“I know people are getting pretty bothered by the stock market being down, but I would advise to be patient,” Stephen Mcelwee said. “I think he’s got a plan. he does seem to change his mind a little bit more often than you’d like, but i think he is going to reach a deal and hopefully that turbulence will calm down the stock market.”

But Arnaldo Leonard, an independent, said it’s just too early to judge the president’s progress.

“Right now, people are saying, ‘oh, we think the price is going to go up’,” Leonard said. “We think the price is going to go down.”

He continued, “I still have my job. I still have my car. I still have my house.  I think it’s just too early to tell.”

After only 100 days some said it is too early to tell if a second trump term will ultimately be a beneficial or a bust for the economy.

Kayla Thomas said she is uncertain about future but encourages everyone to stay informed.

“Always keep yourself educated, read multiple sources, watch multiple things, take down multiple different opinions, not just your own,” Thomas said. “Really just try to soak in everything and then make your own decisions not based on your own environment.”

Srae echoed, “I think everybody, regular Americans are all on the same page. We all want the same thing. We all want to help other people and live in a free society. We just have different ways we’re trying to get there.”
