AUGUSTA, Ga. ()- Do Good Heroes is a program by National Life Group that allows their financial professionals to recognize fire-rescue, police departments and personnel for community service activities above and beyond their public safety duty. Nominees will receive an online profile, recognition on social media, and be entered to win monthly cash prizes that supports a nonprofit of their choice.

This is nationwide and Tuesday, ten people were honored, one being from Augusta.

The Hephzibah High School Community says Wallace LeBrane has impacted students and parents, teaching them and guiding them on law enforcement. That’s a reason why he was nominated for the Do Good Heroes award.

“How he’s really impactful with the students but also with the parents as well, to kind of teach them their rights and to know what it is to be to be a good citizen. Right. And so when they say speaking so highly of him, I thought it was only right that we put in the process to nominate him,” said Charles Garrett, a retirement education specialist for ValuTeachers.

And with this nationwide award he was one of ten chosen and he was honored to have won.

“It’s an honor. It’s a blessing. I couldn’t express how excited the joy I felt in life and just the excitement and just the honor to be. I feel like I’m me, my kids, my mother, my father, my wife, just making everybody proud of the man I’m becoming,” said Wallace LeBrane, school resource officer for, Hephzibah High School.

And winning this award encourages him to accomplish his goals

“Reach one kid. Because when I was a teacher, like, I felt I was reaching the kids. But I was in one class. I wasn’t able to move. But being an officer, I’m, I’m able to go multiple classes. I’m able to go to multiple schools and I can real relationship and build relationship and a rapport with staff and students all over Richmond County,” said LeBrane.

LeBrane also swore in Tuesday at the sheriff’s office with 19 other officers from the Board of Education and Augusta Tech.
