FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Walmart is recalling over 12,000 cartons of Great Value Family Size Chicken Broth due to packaging issues that could lead to spoilage, according to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The recall, initiated on Dec. 11 and announced on the FDA’s website on Jan. 8, affects products sold in 242 stores across nine states: Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Texas.

The recalled cartons are marked with a “best used by” date of March 25, 2026, and carry the UPC code 007874206684. A total of 2,023 cases, each containing six cartons, are included in the recall.

“The health and safety of our customers is always a top priority,” a Walmart spokesperson said in a statement. “As soon as we were made aware of the issue, we took action to remove all impacted product from the select, impacted stores. We are continuing to work with the supplier to investigate.”

Customers who purchased the affected product are advised not to consume it. They should discard the broth and may request a full refund from Walmart.

No illnesses have been reported in connection with the recall.
