SAVANNAH, Ga. — Saturday brought unseasonably warm temperatures, breaking records and setting the stage for a continuation of this mild trend for a few more days. However, expect a shift to colder weather as 2025 concludes and 2026 begins.

At Savannah-Hilton Head International, the thermometer peaked at 80°F on Saturday afternoon, matching the December 27th record set in 2015.

While Sunday and Monday will experience a slight dip in temperatures compared to Saturday, both days are still forecasted to be significantly warmer than usual for this time of year.

Expect afternoon temperatures to reach the lower to mid-70s, with morning lows settling between the upper 50s and lower 60s.

Overnight will remain notably mild, thanks to increasing humidity and cloud coverage. As a result, patchy fog is anticipated to form from Saturday night into early Sunday morning.

Much colder conditions are forecast to set up for the middle of next week. 2025 will end and 2026 will start with well-below normal temperatures.

A cold front is forecast to begin to move through the region on Monday. Temperatures will reach the upper 60s to lower 70s for highs, though the evening and overnight into Tuesday will cool off very quickly.

Low temperatures Tuesday morning are expected to drop into the upper 20s to lower 30s. Afternoon highs will only warm into the upper 40s to lower 50s, even with a sunny sky.

New Year’s Eve on Wednesday will start out even colder. Overnight lows will be in the 20s for most of the Coastal Empire and Lowcountry. Conditions will become colder due to a clear sky and calm wind.

Wednesday afternoon will remain chilly with high temperatures warning into the lower to middle 50s for most locations. The evening will cool off quickly for New Year’s Eve celebrations. Temperatures around midnight will be in the 30s.

New Year’s Day will start out very cold with morning lows in the lower 30s. Temperatures in the afternoon will remain chilly with highs topping out in the upper 50s to lower 60s. High pressure will remain in control giving us another sunny day.

Conditions for Friday and into the weekend will gradually become milder. Our low and high temperatures will be closer to normal. Low temperatures will be in the upper 30s to lower 40s with highs in the lower 60s.

Ahead of another cold front that is forecast to move in on Sunday and into Monday, a few isolated showers are possible.
