TAYLORVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — The Christian County Health Department issued a warning on Friday after someone recently impersonated a health inspector.
The Health Department said on Facebook that an individual tried to conduct an inspection at a local business, but this person was not affiliated with the CCHD. Officials did not say when or where the impersonation took place.
“Our health department inspectors will always arrive with official identification,” officials said. “If you encounter anyone claiming to be a health inspector and you do not recognize them or they do not have proper credentials, we strongly encourage you to take immediate action.”
Officials recommended the following steps if someone encounters an unrecognized inspector: ask for identification, like a badge or government-issued ID, and call both the Health Department and local law enforcement.
“The Christian County Health Department is committed to maintaining the safety, health and trust of all our community members,” officials added.
The Health Department can be reached by calling 217-824-4113.
