JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. (WJHL) — The Washington County Board of Education selected an agency to sell the old Jonesborough Elementary School.

At a board meeting Thursday night, the board decided to use TCI Real Estate Group, a regional commercial real estate agency, to help facilitate the sale of the property.

“I know the board certainly wants it to be something that’s going to benefit the community in some way or another,” Superintendent Jerry Boyd said. “But as far as the purpose of hiring a commercial real estate agent is to ensure that, for the citizens of Washington County, we get the best price for that property.”

Boyd said the county plans to use the funds raised from the sale for future expansions of Daniel Boone High School and that the property behind the middle school will be renovated for community use with the assistance of a recreation grant.
