Expect another sweltering day this Father’s Day, with temperatures soaring into the 90s and heat indices topping 100°F. Stay cool and hydrated and try to limit extended time outdoors. If you have outdoor plans, the morning and early afternoon will be your best bet before scattered storms become possible later in the day. Be sure to have a backup plan if you’re spending time outside this afternoon or evening.
This hot, humid, and unsettled weather pattern isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. Temperatures will continue to climb into the mid-90s, and high humidity will push heat index values even higher. A Heat Advisory may be issued by midweek: these are triggered when heat index values reach between 108° and 112°F for at least two hours.
In addition to the heat, a stalled front to our north, combined with the afternoon sea breeze, will keep daily chances for isolated rain and storms in the forecast. Be prepared: keep your water bottle, fan, and umbrella close by all week long.
