Seasonal temperatures are expected for the remainder of the weekend as we await the heat dome to settle in across our region.
Seasonal Sunday
Sunday morning will feature the usual warm and muggy start with temperatures in the low and mid 70s. Temperatures warm into the low and mid 90s by the afternoon.
While a 20% chance of stray showers and storms cannot be ruled out, the rest of the weekend will be primarily rain-free.
Heat Dome Builds In
An expansive ridge of high pressure, colloquially known as a heat dome, will settle into the Eastern United States for the new week. Rain chances will be put to bed Monday through Thursday.
Remember to stay safe in the heat. Wear lightweight reflective clothing, stay hydrated, limit caffeine and alcohol intake, and do not over-exert.
High temperatures will reach into the mid and upper 90s for a bulk of the area over several days. One thing working in our favor is slightly-lower humidity leading to heat index values below Extreme Heat Warning criteria.

Heat Alerts Possible
However, there will be the possibility of Heat Advisory criteria being met with heat index values between 105° and 110°, especially later in the week. Mornings become warmer and humidity will increase for Thursday and Friday.
