WESTVILLE. (WCIA) — Each day, new studies show technology is changing the world. One public library in Vermilion County is doing what it can to stay up to date.
The Westville Public Library District was awarded a tech grant from the Illinois Secretary of State. It’s getting around $30,000 to help improve the library experience.
State officials said the grant’s purpose is to buy things like new software and technology and increasing internet accessibility. The library’s director said he’s not sure what they’ll be spending their money on but the goal is to get the community involved.
“I feel like this money could be used to bring in improvements, maybe new technology, maybe ideas that the community could use to just bring people into the library and make sure the community is aware of everything we have going on here,” Library Director Nick Sager said.
He said the money should be coming in next week — they’ll have two years to spend the grant. The library board will meet on Tuesday. Sager said they will work to figure out what the plan is.
