PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — The man accused of kidnapping, murdering, and dismembering a 16-year-old girl will remain in jail without bond. in the meantime, authorities are searching for his alleged accomplice, while detectives work to locate the teen’s body believed to be in a landfill.

The Judge is revealing heartbreaking details on how Steven Gress, 35, allegedly killed 16-year-old Miranda Corsette. Gress is now asking the same question as authorities: where is Michelle Brandis?

“They just said I suffocated,” said Gress during his first appearance but was cut off by the public defender who said, “do not say anymore!”

Gress appeared in court wearing an orange jumpsuit with his arms folded.

St. Pete Police said Gress and his partner, Michelle Brandes, 37, lured Corsette to his St. Pete home after meeting her on a social media app last month.

Investigators said inside the duplex is where the teen was beaten and tortured for days, after an argument over a piece of jewelry.

“Repeatedly beat the victim, while holding her captive for seven days and eventually suffocating her by wrapping plastic wrap around her face,” said the Judge.

Chief Anthony Holloway said what happened next was unimaginable.

“She was then killed,” said Chief Holloway. “Mr. Gress placed her body in his car along with his domestic partner Michelle Brandes and they drove her to Largo.”

Police believe Gress then dismembered Corsette. Authorities said her remains were placed in a dumpster in Ruskin.

“Where is Brandes at?” Gress questioned a second time.

Investigators have that same question.

“Michelle if you’re out there, we’re trying to tell you to turn yourself in because we will find you sooner or later, If anybody out there is trying to help Michelle, if we can, we will charge you,” said Chief Holloway.

Gress was already in custody. Police said he was arrested three days ago for assaulting Brandes. Gress is facing a first-degree murder charge as well as a kidnapping charge. He is being held without bond on this capital offense.
