LEBANON, Va. (WJHL) — A Southwest Virginia woman was sentenced to a decade in prison after pleading guilty to methamphetamine distribution charges.

Angela Gayle Knuckles, 53, of Cleveland, Virginia, pleaded guilty Tuesday to distribution of a Schedule I or II controlled substance (2nd offense) and conspiracy to distribute a Schedule I or II controlled substance, according to the Russell County commonwealth’s attorney’s office.

A judge sentenced Knuckles to 20 years with 10 years suspended, plus three years of probation upon her release.

According to the commonwealth’s attorney’s office, Knuckles sold meth in connection with her co-defendant Ronald Breeding.

“This lengthy sentence will remove another individual who has sold drugs on multiple occasions in our community,” Commonwealth’s Attorney Zack Stoots said in a release. “The illegal distribution of methamphetamine and other drugs continues to be a problem in our county and hopefully a severe sentence like this one will serve as a deterrent to other people who are engaging or inclined to engage in illicit activities.”

The case was investigated by the Holston River Regional Drug Task Force, which is comprised of the Lebanon Police Department, Russell County Sheriff’s Office, and Virginia State Police.
