ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – Florida Highway Patrol troopers said they believe one vehicle was connected to two separate crashes just minutes apart Sunday morning in Orange County, with the second crash killing the driver and injuring a child.
According to investigators, a 44-year-old woman from Lakeland was driving a Honda Accord on Interstate 4 near the Daryl Carter Parkway exit when troopers believe she suffered a medical episode.
The crash happened around 7:45 a.m., the Florida Highway Patrol said in its crash report.
Troopers said the Honda went into the median, continued through the intersection, struck a curb and then crashed into a concrete barrier before catching fire.
The driver was pronounced dead, troopers said. A 9-year-old passenger was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Troopers say shortly before the crash on Daryl Carter Parkway, they believe the woman was involved in a separate crash on I-4.
FHP says preliminary information shows this crash happened near mile marker 69, and involved a 23-year-old from Tennessee.
According to troopers, that person was not hurt and stayed at the scene, state troopers say.
Both crashes are under investigation
