Better Late - What We Know So Far

“Better Late” is to be a semi-biographical series based on David E. Talbert’s lived experiences. As shared by Deadline, the story will follow a first-time dad whose own father — a noted deadbeat — chooses to reenter his life as a means to foster a relationship with his new grandson. This story will be framed with the intent of promoting forgiveness and second chances and finding the good in the midst of the bad. As the series has only just gone into development and Talbert has yet to openly discuss his personal history in any official capacity, there’s nothing more concrete that we can report.

Ultimately, it sounds like ABC expects this to be another heartwarming series about family bonding, so it’s endearingly appropriate that Talbert’s partner, Lyn Sisson-Talbert, is signed on as well. She is usually listed as a producer on his works, but perhaps Sisson-Talbert’s role will expand, given the personal nature of the story.
