As the DC Cinematic Universe prepares for its latest blockbuster release, fans are buzzing with excitement over Jason Momoa’s first appearance as Lobo, thanks to a newly unveiled “Supergirl” movie teaser. If you’re curious about the fan reactions, click on the video above to dive into what DCU enthusiasts are saying about this much-anticipated debut.

Viewers are thrilled with Momoa’s portrayal, considering him a perfect fit for the character. “Jason was truly destined to be Lobo, he looks AMAZING. It’s as if he stepped right out of the comic pages,” remarked X user @captaincupkicks. Another fan enthusiastically declared, “THAT M**********R RIGHT THERE….. IS LOBO!!!!!!” as expressed by @wildheartsolar.

The enthusiasm continues on Reddit, where users are praising Momoa’s role. One comment, “So Lobo is playing himself!!” was shared by u/hero_786 in the DC_Cinematic subreddit. Meanwhile, u/uncensored_opinions expressed appreciation for the casting, reminiscing, “Been waiting for this since Stargate Atlantis,” referencing Momoa’s earlier role as Ronon Dex. While fans are thrilled with this glimpse of the Main Man, none seem more excited than Momoa himself.

In Momoa’s own words: “Finally.” His desire to play Lobo has been a well-known aspiration, one he actively pursued with determination.

“He’s been talking about it forever,” commented DC Studios co-head Peter Safran in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. “While working on ‘Aquaman,’ he frequently mentioned his preference for playing Lobo. The moment [James Gunn and I] were announced as heads of DC, he texted us, all in caps, ‘LOBO,’ followed by ten exclamation points. That was his entire message.”

Jason Momoa has wanted to play Lobo for ages

To quote Jason Momoa himself: “Finally.” It’s no secret that playing Lobo has been one of his acting career goals for some time, and he wasn’t afraid to aggressively campaign for the part.

“He’s been talking about it forever,” DC Studios co-head Peter Safran told Entertainment Weekly. “He was talking about it when he was doing ‘Aquaman’ with me. He was talking about, ‘I’d rather be doing Lobo.’ But when the day was announced that [James Gunn and I] got this job [leading DC], he texted both of us, all caps, ‘LOBO,’ 10 exclamation marks. That was it.”

Momoa previously told Entertainment Weekly – before landing the role — that his heart has always been with Stan Lee’s favorite DC Comics character. “I collect comics, and I don’t do so much anymore, but he was always my favorite,” Momoa said. “And I always wanted to play Lobo because I’m like, ‘Hello? It’s the perfect role.’” He added at the time, “I haven’t received that call … but if they ever call me and ask me to play or ask me to audition, I’m there.” When he scored the part of Lobo in 2024, he posted an excerpt from that very interview to his Instagram, adding only two words: “They called.” Want to hear more fan reactions to Lobo’s DCU debut?
