Throughout its tenure, “The Boys” was notorious for presenting unsettling scenes, and its fifth and concluding season certainly upheld this tradition. Although one might assume the actors would grow accustomed to the madness, Jensen Ackles admitted a particular scene unexpectedly rattled him.

In 2025, Ackles shared insights about his role as Soldier Boy at a convention, revealing a specific moment during the filming of Season 5 that unsettled him. “We rehearsed and blocked the scene,” Ackles recounted (via NME). “But once the cameras rolled, things changed. I walked in, saw it, thought ‘Dear God,’ and promptly walked back out.”
Initially, Ackles kept details about the scene under wraps. However, during a 2026 convention (via Comic Book Movie), he finally disclosed it was a scene from Season 5, episode 3, titled “Every One of You Sons of B***hes.” It featured Homelander (Antony Starr) lounging in a bathtub brimming with milk, an unsettling moment given what fans know about Homelander’s peculiar milk obsession.

While Starr can laugh about the absurdity, Ackles found no humor in the milk bathtub scene from Season 5. Although the upcoming “Vought Rising” might promise less chaos, considering Garth Ennis’ world and its twisted inhabitants, one shouldn’t hold their breath for normalcy.
Appearing on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” to promote the final season of “The Boys,” the discussion pivoted to the topic of breast milk again, especially how it plays into Homelander’s obvious Oedipus complex and a variety of other issues. “I think there is an element of comfort,” Starr said. “Yeah, there’s a deep, deep-seated comfort that he gets from milk.” The actor added that people now offer him milk as a gag whenever they meet him. “I decline the milk,” he said, “but I acknowledge the joke.”
While Starr is able to see the funny side of it, Jensen Ackles certainly didn’t when he was caught unaware by the milk bathtub scene from “The Boys” Season 5. Maybe “Vought Rising” is less chaotic and disgusting, but knowing what we do about creator Garth Ennis’ universe and its disturbing residents, do not bet on it.
