Milly Alcock made a memorable entrance into the superhero world with a lively cameo in “Superman,” where she played a tipsy party-goer. Her character, Supergirl, is set for further adventures, but how will her story conclude? For those curious about her journey, our video above offers a comprehensive breakdown.

The “Superman” film sets the stage for Supergirl’s standalone movie. However, details on which specific adventures will be adapted remain scarce. It has been revealed that the film will draw inspiration from the comic series “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow,” written by Tom King. This direction was hinted at by James Gunn, a key figure in shaping the DC Universe timeline, providing a glimpse into the expected storyline.

In the comics, Kara Zor-El, known as Supergirl, encounters fellow orphan Ruthye Marye Knoll, portrayed by Eve Ridley, during a festive night at a bar under a red sun. Ruthye is on a mission for vengeance against the pirate Krem of the Yellow Hills, played by Matthias Schoenaerts, who murdered her father. Much like Kara’s grief over the loss of her family on Krypton’s Argo City, Ruthye seeks retribution and enlists Supergirl’s help. Together with Krypto, they embark on a journey to track down Krem, culminating in a moral crossroads: whether to exact revenge or choose a path of forgiveness. The film’s trailer suggests, however, that the adaptation might not follow the comic’s narrative exactly.

There’s a strong possibility that “Supergirl” will chart its own course, diverging from its comic origins. Notably, bounty hunter Lobo, played by Jason Momoa, appears in the trailer despite not being part of the original “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” storyline. His inclusion suggests that some elements will be altered for the screen adaptation. Other minor adjustments, such as changing Supergirl’s age from 21 to 23 during her bar escapades, have already been noted.

Could there be more significant deviations when the movie hits theaters, like omitting the comic series’ epilogue where an older Ruthye, Supergirl, and Krem reunite decades later? Audiences will have to wait and see when “Supergirl” premieres on June 26, 2026. For additional insights into the film’s potential ending, don’t miss our video above.

There are a couple of deviations from Woman of Tomorrow in the Supergirl trailer

It’s quite possible that “Supergirl” will go its own way and diverge from its comic book source material. Bounty hunter Lobo (Jason Momoa) pops up in the trailer, although he does not have a part in the published version of “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.” His presence strongly hints that a few details are going to be changed in the process of bringing the comic book narrative to the screen. There are also other small details from the story which have been slightly tweaked — such as Supergirl turning 23 instead of 21 during her bar crawl at the beginning of the movie.

Does this mean there will be even bigger changes in the offing when the movie comes out — such as the removal of the comic book series’ epilogue, in which an older Ruthye, Supergirl and Krem meet again decades later? Fans will have to flock to theaters to find out when “Supergirl” is released on June 26, 2026. Want to know even more about how the movie might end? Click our video above.
