Just 1 in 3 New York voters say they would vote to reelect Gov. Kathy Hochul (D-N.Y.), a new survey found.

According to the survey, released Monday by Siena College’s Research Institute, 31 percent of New York voters say they would reelect Hochul while 57 percent say they want to vote for “someone else.”

The results are similar to a survey conducted in December 2024, where Hochul also received a largely negative favorability rating. Currently, just 55 percent of Democrats view her favorably.

New Yorkers rated President Trump more favorably than the governor, the survey found.

Hochul has not received a positive favorability rating from the survey since January 2024.

“Governor Hochul’s favorability and job approval ratings continue to languish in negative territory,” Siena College pollster Steven Greenberg said. “Currently 57 percent of voters — including 41 percent of Democrats — would prefer ‘someone else’ as their next governor.”

The survey found that just 22 percent of New Yorkers think Hochul’s administration has improved the state’s fiscal condition while 52 percent say she has not.

Still, eight of 10 of Hochul’s budget proposals in her State of the State were supported by large majorities, the survey found.

The poll was conducted Jan. 27-30 among 803 registered New York state voters and has a margin of error of 4.2 percentage points.
