28-Year-Old Teacher Admits Romantic Involvement with 15-Year-Old Student, Discovered by Teen’s Aunt

In a disturbing revelation from Ohio, a teacher has been exposed for engaging in a prolonged and inappropriate relationship with a 15-year-old student. This educator, betraying her position of trust, inundated the young boy with thousands of text messages, expressing a misguided love for him, before ultimately being discovered by the boy’s aunt.

Jamelah Daboubi, aged 28, who taught 10th grade at Horizon Science Academy in Columbus, Ohio, admitted to her misconduct in February. She faced multiple charges, including gross sexual imposition and unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, as detailed in court documents reported by WBNS.

In April 2025, the situation reached a critical point when the Columbus police were alerted by the teen’s aunt. Responding to a call, they arrived at her residence on Salado Creek Drive, located on the northeast side of the city, according to prosecutors. This incident underscores the serious breach of trust and the impact of such actions within a community.

Daboubi was hit with a slew of charges, including gross sexual imposition and unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, per court documents obtained by WBNS.

In April 2025, Columbus police responded to a call from the teen’s aunt and went to her home on Salado Creek Drive on the city’s northeast side, according to prosecutors. 

The aunt said she harrowingly discovered her nephew, over whom she has guardianship, in a car with the teacher.

When interviewed by police, the teen admitted that he had a sexual relationship with Daboubi, including kissing and touching.

The teen also admitted that they had been ‘texting for a couple of months and engaging in sexual activity for a period of time,’ prosecutors said.

Police seized the 15-year-old’s phone, uncovering hundreds of calls and thousands of brazen texts between him and Daboubi. 

The texts even included declarations of their twisted ‘love,’ according to the statement. 

The perp was fired from her job at the Horizon Science Academy, the school confirmed in a statement released April 21, 2025.

She was initially hit with two counts of sexual battery, which were later amended by authorities, prosecutors said. 

The court reportedly recommended a sentence that includes five years of community control, mandatory counseling, the removal of her teaching license, and community service.

As part of her plea deal, Daboubi will be required to register as a sex offender.

When she is sentenced at a later date, she’ll be locked up for 18 months, according to the outlet.

This ordeal follows a Washington state high school teacher’s arrest on Monday, after she allegedly sexually assaulted a 16-year-old student inside her classroom closet.

Madeline Gregory, 29, is accused of sexually assaulting the boy at Sprague High School, after telling him she was in a ‘sexless marriage’, court papers said.

Investigators said both the boy and Gregory admitted to the months-long relationship, with the student claiming she threatened suicide if he called it off.

Gregory told investigators that the two had groped one another and that she performed oral sex on the boy inside the closet in her classroom numerous times. 

Cheney Free Press reported that the alleged assaults were also carried out inside a gym closet and in bushes next to the school’s tennis court. 

The age of consent in Washington is 16, but it is illegal for adults in authority positions to have sexual relationships with teens who are at or above the age of consent who are in their care.

A friend of the alleged victim told police that Gregory told him that she was going to get a divorce because she ‘won’t have sex with her husband’, the court filings state.
