THOUSANDS of cans of the popular drink 7up have been recalled over an apparent labeling mix-up.

Around 20,000 cans of a sugar-free drink are being recalled under the order.

It was issued on July 31, according to chiefs at the Food and Drug Administration.

The soda that is being recalled is the zero sugar tropical version.

And, the order was issued because cans were found to contain a sugary product.

The soda was distributed across Alabama, Florida and Georgia, according to the FDA.

More than 23,000 cans have since been recalled.

The use-by date of March 2026 was plastered on the cans.

But, FDA chiefs have not outlined steps shoppers should take if they bought a can of the soda that has since been recalled.

The recall has been categorized as a Class II, which is the second tier of the FDA’s grading system.

Items that fall under a Class II recall have the potential to cause some health effects.

But, the likelihood of serious health consequences are slim.

Urgent Recall: Popular $3 Children’s Toy Pulled Over Choking Hazard Fears

Sandwiched either side of a Class II recall is a Class I and a Class III order.

Class I recalls are the most serious and FDA chiefs have warned how consuming a product can cause serious health impacts.

The U.S. Sun reported how batches of a chocolate cookie dough-flavored ice cream was recalled over the fact they contained undeclared items.

Some of the undeclared products included almonds, walnuts and pecans, according to the company, which initiated the recall, Blue Bell Ice Cream.

How to handle product recall

FOOD Safety experts insist that shoppers shouldn’t panic if they’re affected by a recall, as many are harmless.

However, consumers should take each warning seriously and follow the necessary steps to protect themselves.

Oftentimes, food manufacturers issue recalls as a precautionary measure, so there likely isn’t a foodborne illness hiding in your pantry.

However, even if the recall is merely a precaution, shoppers should always stay safe and not consume the affected items.

Experts advise people to keep a product closed if it hasn’t been opened, and never feed it to a pet or donate it to food banks.

Anyone who has handled or opened an affected item should wash their hands thoroughly with warm water and soap for 20 seconds.

Read the recall closely for specific instructions on how to get rid of the food item.

Typically, the brand will ask consumers to return the recalled product to the store where they purchased it for a full refund.

Sometimes shoppers will also be asked to throw it away so that no one else can eat it.

The ice cream was sold across the country in more than a dozen states, including Georgia, New Mexico, Tennessee and Texas.

Officials have confirmed there have been no illnesses linked to the item.

Recalls have also been issued for batches of frozen shrimp amid fears they were contaminated with a radioactive isotope.

Toothpaste and a children’s ball toy are also among the items that have been recalled by health and safety bosses.

The children’s toy – a game tasking kids with throwing balls inside a hoop – was recalled over fears it posed a choking hazard.

The U.S. Sun also reported how more than 100,000 ladders, sold at Home Depot, were recalled after some shoppers suffered injuries after using them.

Investigators found an issue with a mechanism that didn’t fully lock into place.

The set of ladders was on sale for between $200 and $281.

Shoppers who bought the recalled item have been urged to stop using it and apply for a refund.
