A New York father reportedly made a desperate 911 call, screaming that his son was killing him during a fatal attack inside his home.
Edward Brown, 69, was found covered in blood at his apartment in Mastic on September 7, officials said.
His 33-year-old son, Sage Arias-Brown, allegedly stabbed him about 40 times in the torso, chest and neck.
Investigators said Sage entered his father’s home at approximately 12:30 a.m. on the night of the alleged attack.
A neighbor reportedly heard a loud bang, followed by Edward’s screams, according to authorities.
During the frantic 911 call, Edward could be heard shouting: “I’m being murdered. What are you doing to me, Sage?”
Several minutes after the emergency call was made, the neighbor allegedly saw Sage leaving Edward’s apartment.
Police later located the 33-year-old approximately half a mile from the apartment and took him into custody.

Edward was found unresponsive and pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.
Sage was arraigned Thursday on a second-degree murder charge.
District Attorney Tierney said the defendant was accused of “viciously taking the life of his 69-year-old father” while Edward was calling police for help.
“The facts in this case are heartbreaking,” Tierney said. “This indictment is an important step towards holding the defendant accountable for the brutal violence he allegedly inflicted on his own parent.”
Sage is scheduled to return to court on October 21. If convicted, he could face 25 years to life in prison.
Earlier this month, Edward shared a haunting Facebook post reflecting on how quickly life can change.
“It is in a blink of the eye that life can change. A twisted bowel, a broken hip. Stroke, clots, cancer, diabetes…so many reasons,” he wrote.
“Only God knows our toe tag… Life is too short.”
During the alleged attack, Edward called 911 and screamed: “I’m being murdered. What are you doing to me, Sage?”

He added that people need to care for each other and called on others to share his message.
Edward’s account is now flooded with heartbreaking sentiments from loved ones.
‘Every bit that I remember of you Ed was happy and positive and boisterous,’ wrote one user. ‘I know you can’t see this but I just wanted to say it. Much love Ed.’
‘My heart is totally broken. Ed was my mentor, my best friend for almost 40 years,’ another added.
‘He was the kindest, most gentle soul you ever want to meet. So brilliant, loving. and ready to give of himself. He was one of a kind. God speed my beautiful Friend.’
‘So sorry he was a great man this is so sad and tragic. Why? Rest in Peace,’ a third said.
