“Please stay inside your home with the doors locked. Law enforcement is currently investigating at multiple locations.

“If you see any suspicious activity or individuals please call 911.”

The Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office said it’s investigating multiple active shooter events and that a suspect is still at large.

“We are encouraging all businesses to lock down and or close while we investigate,” the department said in a Facebook post.

The department also released photos of the suspect, who is wearing a brown jacket, blue pants, and tan shoes. He has brown hair and a beard.

Anyone with information about the alleged shooter has been asked to send an email to dispatch@androscoggincountymaine.gov.

The situation started around 7:15 pm at Sparetime Recreation, a bowling alley, The Sun Journal reported.

There was another shooting at Schemengees Bar & Grille Restaurant.

Around 8:15 pm the shooter was spotted at a Walmart Distribution Center.

Lewiston Public Schools sent out a message urging people in its facilities to shelter in place, WMTW reported.

“We are going into lockdown,” said the text.

“I will provide more information as it is available and appropriate.”

Members of the media have been asked to state at Lewiston City Hall.

The Lewiston Police Department, the Lewiston Fire Department, Maine State Police, and the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Department didn’t immediately respond to The U.S. Sun’s requests for comment.
