A highly respected Air Force veteran lost his life in a shocking daylight shooting while he was in the midst of decorating his home. The tragic event was entirely recorded by his Ring doorbell camera, serving as a grim witness to the crime committed on his doorsteps.
Randy Witten, aged 71, who dedicated 20 years to military service, was brutally shot multiple times in the back on May 30th in West Point, Utah. This information comes from a statement released by the Department of Homeland Security.
Facing charges for this murder is Axel Eduardo Chavez-Marroquin, a Salvadoran national residing illegally in the United States with an extensive history of violent crime. According to the DHS, Chavez-Marroquin made his way into the U.S. without documentation in 2021. After being released by the Biden administration, California sanctuary policies allowed him to roam freely multiple times despite arrests related to domestic violence.
These releases occurred despite Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) placing detainers on him following both incidents.
In an official statement, Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis expressed, “After his release, he perpetrated this outrageous murder. He should never have been on our streets, and Randy Witten’s life should not have been cut short.”
