Both Nobles and Vega were the Angel Moms testifying before the subcommittee. Nobles daughter Kayla Hamilton was murdered in July 2022 by criminal illegal and MS-13 gang member Walter Martinez. Vega’s son Javier “Harvey” Vega Jr. was murdered by an illegal immigrant in 2014.

Chairman Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) questioned the Angel Moms about the difficulties of navigating the murder of their children. Both Nobles and Vega decried the misconceptions peddled by the legacy media about their children’s murders. They also decried how politicians and the media lumped together legal immigration with illegal entry into the country. In response to Cornyn’s question on whether she agreed with amnesty being offered to people who entered illegally, but have been in the country for a while and shouldn’t be forced to return to their home countries, Vega responded, “No sir, they’ve had ample time to rectify their citizenship status. It’s an honor being in this country. When you’re from another country and you come here, it’s an honor.”

Cornyn asked Nobles what misconceptions she would like to be cleared up concerning the murder of her daughter. Nobles said, “A lot of it is they confuse the terms, you know, ‘immigration, and ‘illegal immigrants.’ We’re talking about illegal immigrants who broke the law[…] Also, the whole thing about that illegal immigrants commit less crime. How do we know that? We don’t know whose in this country.”

Nobles related how MS-13 gang member Walter Martinez pretended to be innocent and not to understand what he had done to her daughter, but when confronted with the crime, Nobles said his demeanor changed completely from fear, to collected arrogance. Nobles said he spoke the word “homicide” in Spanish, and he actually started to laugh.

“He murdered my daughter and left her on the floor like trash,” Nobles said. It was a joke to him.”

Of course, it was ranking member Sen. Alex Padilla (D-CA) who, after hearing their responses and heart-rending testimony on the murder of their children, threw salt into the wounds of the Angel moms by reinforcing the concept that both women mentioned were painful lies and misconceptions. After Padilla pontificated and condemned the ICE raids, then decried the fact that non-criminal illegals were being swept up with criminal illegals, Padilla posed a question to all the witnesses.

Tammy Nobles rightly challenged Padilla on this asking, “Are you talking about illegal immigrants or immigrants who came here legally and did it the right way? Which one?”

Padilla refused to answer her question, all he wanted was his chit for the public record. “By a show of hands…” He began, and Nobles challenged him again.

“That’s not going to be a proper answer to that,” she said. 

Flustered by her push back, Padilla interjected, “Or even most?”

Nobles responded, “No, all illegal immigrants are criminals, because they came here illegally.” 

It took a broken hearted mother to turn the tables on Senator Bloviate. 

Nobles appeared Wednesday on “Fox & Friends First,” and she said that Padilla’s intent was to trap her and Vega into a pat answer so he could use it for his purposes.

“I think he was trying to get her trapped, and then I just jumped in and was like, ‘What do you mean? Do you mean illegal immigrants that didn’t come the right way? Or do you mean legal immigrants who did it the right way?’ 

“I think he was trying to trap us into saying something that [would trip us up],” she alleged.

“I didn’t let him do that… You can’t say all migrants. You can’t put them all in the same category,” she added.

But, this is the same senator who was butthurt that Vice President JD Vance called him a different name, and claimed that if he was standing outside of a Home Depot, he’d be the target of ICE enforcement. 

One can only roll their eyes back so far before they hit the back of the head. Jose Padilla needs to take all the seats.
