As the Left-Wing Narrative Around the Kirk Shooter Fully Collapses, the Press Goes Full Bird Box

While it’s been obvious from the beginning that Charlie Kirk’s assassin was radicalized by left-wing ideology, the last 24 hours have been illuminating.

For days, there has been a concerted attempt to claim Kirk was essentially responsible for his own death, not only suggesting that he deserved to be murdered for his viewpoints, but also that he was killed by someone on the right. That perverse gambit has manifested in two ways.

Large left-wing accounts, including prominent Democrats like David Shuster, Adam Kinzinger, and Laurence Tribe, have outright claimed Tyler Robinson was a “right-wing” MAGA adherent. Meanwhile, instead of pushing back on those falsehoods, the mainstream press has largely lied by omission, pretending that the killer’s ideology remains a total mystery.

Take the following, which was published by The New York Times on Saturday evening.

Keep in mind that by the time that piece went live, the news was already everywhere that Robinson lived with a trans-identifying boyfriend and that investigators were certain he was deeply ensconced in left-wing ideology. But if you only read the Times, you’d think all we know about the monster is that his parents were registered Republicans. That irrelevant detail warranted a mention, but not the plain meaning of “Hey fascist, catch!” being etched onto the round used to murder Kirk.

The shooter quite literally wrote his ideology on the shell casings, and the press is still acting as if that’s not indicative of anything. It’s infuriating, but not surprising. Mainstream “journalists” often play this game where they are experts on everything until the moment something counters their narrative. Then they will quite literally demand evidence that the sky is blue, refusing to report the obvious lest it reveal something uncomfortable about their own political ideology.

This recent interview with a neighbor of the shooter, which is newsworthy in and of itself because it confirms the shooter did have a trans-identifying boyfriend, is the perfect example of that.

REPORTER: But you were sure they were a couple, but you only saw them together once?

WITNESS: Yeah, yeah, I mean, random guys don’t hold hands and definitely don’t kiss.

If you watch the clip, you can hear the reporter is aghast, as she suggests the man’s supposition is unsupported. It’s pretty wild that he then has to explain to the press scrum that normal guys don’t hold hands and kiss. We have a press corps that will do quantum physics to target a Republican, but then pretends not to know what two plus two equals when it’s convenient.

As for all the latest information on the shooter and his boyfriend, don’t expect to see this in the Times.

For context, just a few hours earlier, you had major Democrat influencers insisting the roommate couldn’t be trans because he posted videos of himself snowboarding.

With the evidence now overwhelming, how has the left shifted its narrative? Hilariously, we are now being told that, yeah, the roommate is trans, but he’s a hero for helping “catch the shooter,” and that the shooter is still “a heterosexual white dude” even though he was dating…a guy.

You can’t make this stuff up. Everything is so stupid, and it’s only going to get worse. There will be no introspection by anyone on the left, from the press to influencers like the one above. They aren’t going to change and suddenly start telling the truth because the truth is harmful to their politics. That they are willing to act this way even in the aftermath of a tragic political assassination shows the level of depravity we are dealing with.
