Associated Press Gets Charbroiled for Suggesting Un-American Addition to Memorial Day BBQs

The Associated Press learned the hard way not to get in between Americans and their Memorial Day barbecues.

In an article entitled, “A Veggie Burger Even Memorial Day Meat Eaters Will Love,” writer Christopher Kimball encouraged his fellow citizens to embrace a veggie “burger” as part of their holiday celebrations. Kimball’s recipe called for a “meaty substance” patty to be created from the unholy alliance of black beans and quinoa; the patty is then pan-fried and served, burger style, on a bun “with your favorite fixings.” The author suggests the concoction could also be served on its own with a tossed green salad.

Is there nothing the left isn’t determined to ruin? Only the legacy media would be tone-deaf enough to conclude that this unappetizing monstrosity, likely a staple at their Manhattan and DC confabs, would make its way onto picnic tables across the fruited plain this holiday weekend. Truthfully, McDonald’s infamous pink slime burgers sound far more appetizing.

The real fun kicked in when AP tweeted out the article with the very un-American suggestion that the veggie burger would make a “nice addition” to Memorial Day menus.

As you might have guessed, users had a strong reaction:

“What? No recipes for burgers with bugs?”

“If we were meant to be vegetarian, animals wouldn’t taste so good.”

“Drink it with a Bud Light and you’ll turn into a unicorn.”

“They only make a nice addition to the trash can”

And, of course, the most important question of all when it comes to the “meaty substance” of veggie “burgers”:

“If you don’t want to eat meat, why cook a fake hamburger?”

This person aptly summed up the sentiment with a gif:

A few liberals, in true humorless lib fashion, attempted to jump into the fray, with one huffing, “Nothing more pathetic than those that feel threatened by the suggestion of a vegetarian option.” Hey, if AP reported it, then it’s the duty of every lefty to unquestioningly defend it. And, let’s face it, there’s no way to defend veggie “burgers,” especially on a weekend when we celebrate the very best of America. That includes: hamburgers, hot dogs, corn on the cob, watermelon, apple pie, and oceans of beer. Save the quinoa and black beans for Burning Man and Lilith Fair.
