ASTRONOMER has appointed a new interim CEO following a viral “kiss cam” incident at the Coldplay concert.
Pete DeJoy will fill Andy Byron’s shoes as the firm deals with the aftermath of the kiss cam saga.
Who is new Astronomer CEO Pete DeJoy?
Pete DeJoy is a co-founder and Chief Product Officer at Astronomer.
He holds a bachelors’ degree in chemistry and physics from Bowdoin college in Brunswick, Maine.
Pete was instrumental in expanding Astronomer’s data orchestration platform and previously oversaw product development at the company.
As a founding member, Pete has been with Astronomer for eight years since the company was established.
On July 19, it was announced that Pete will be appointed an interim CEO of Astronomer to lead the firm through this turbulent time.
The company statement read: “Cofounder and Chief Product Officer Pete DeJoy is currently serving as interim CEO, given that Andy Byron has been placed on leave.
“We will share more details as appropriate in the coming days.”
Why has Pete DeJoy stepped in as interim CEO at Astronomer?
Pete stepped in as interim CEO after Andy Byron was placed on leave following a viral “kiss cam” incident.
Andy was caught canoodling with his HR chief Kristin Cabot during Coldplay concert at the Gillette Stadium in Boston.
Andy, who is reportedly married to Megan Kerrigan Byron, had his arms around Cabot’s waist during the infamous kiss cam moment.
The pair have been put on leave while Astronomer has launched a probe into the incident.
A statement claiming to be from Andy quickly made the rounds online after the Coldplay incident, appearing to confirm an affair and express regret.
In the lengthy message, the supposed Andy called it a “deeply personal mistake” that unfolded “on a very public stage,” and apologised to his wife, family, and colleagues at Astronomer.
He went on to say they “deserve better” from him “as a partner, as a father, and as a leader”, claiming he was taking time to reflect and be accountable.
The company has denied that Andy put out any statements as a torrent of fake information floods the internet.
“Astronomer is committed to the values and culture that have guided us since our founding.
“Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability.
“The Board of Directors has initiated a formal investigation into this matter, and we will have additional details to share very shortly.
“Alyssa Stoddard was not at the event, and no other employees were in the video.
“Andy Byron has not put out any statement; reports saying otherwise are all incorrect,” the firm said in a statement.
Neither Andy nor Kristin has publicly addressed the scandal.
