Five days have passed since a tragic shooting unfolded in a Brown University classroom, leaving two students dead and nine others injured. In the aftermath of a series of press briefings that offered little clarity, authorities have finally shed light on the situation. Late Thursday night, officials confirmed that the suspect has been identified as 48-year-old Claudio Manuel Neves-Valente.

The press conference in Providence, Rhode Island, was initially scheduled for 4:00 PM Eastern but faced several delays amid swirling rumors that a person of interest had been identified. This individual matched the description of a suspect captured on previously released video footage. Attention soon turned to the sight of a storage facility in Salem, New Hampshire, and a gray Nissan Sentra believed to be linked to the shooting.

There are also indications that the Brown University incident might be related to the murder of MIT professor Nuno Loureiro, who was killed at his home in Brookline, Massachusetts, earlier this week.
