A BRITISH Airways crew member was arrested in Singapore accused of raping a stewardess colleague.

He was last night locked-up, accused of attacking the woman following a boozed-up bash between flights.

The Sun understands that two women BA staff members have been flown home following the recent shocking incident.

BA managers have flown to Singapore to liaise with authorities there and the nicked crew member, who is currently behind bars.

The rape claim – reported after a crew had gone out on the town between flights – has stunned British Airways staff.

Offenders found guilty of raping a victim aged over 14 in Singapore will be jailed for up to 20 years – and will also be liable to a fine or caning.

A source said yesterday: “Everyone is numb. The rape accused steward has flown with BA for years.

“The case is under the jurisdiction of Singapore authorities and proving a major headache for aviation chiefs.”

The airline has been rocked by major staff incidents during layovers between flights in recent months, particularly in Singapore.

In February we told how a British Airways pilot and steward were suspended after colleagues reported them for taking Class A drugs.

A brawl broke out in popular cocktail bar Chijmes after a flying team spotted their colleagues with a bag full of suspected cocaine.

And we told how a BA pilot was accused of sexually assaulting one of his stewardesses during a debauched night out between flights in Singapore.

The veteran pilot was detained and questioned by authorities in the Far East – and legal action is ongoing.

Last night news of the BA crew member locked up in Singapore accused of raping a colleague was spreading like wildfire throughout the airline.

British Airways told The Sun: “This is a matter for the police and it would be inappropriate to comment further.”
