Barbara Eden has spent nearly seven decades in the spotlight, yet the 95-year-old I Dream of Jeannie star continues to impress fans with her energy and style. On Saturday, Eden arrived at a Los Angeles fan convention dressed in a polished black outfit featuring tailored trousers, a long-sleeved top and fashionable wedges. She completed the look with a silver-and-turquoise necklace and matching earrings. A driver assisted her from the car, but she was soon standing and walking on her own. The appearance followed her participation in The Hollywood Show fan convention in Burbank on Friday and Saturday, where she reunited with fellow veteran actresses including Tatum O’Neal, Linda Blair and Heather Locklear. In 2024, Eden spoke to Fox News about the fitness habits that have helped her remain active. “I used to work out all the time,” she said, recalling spinning classes and weight training with a personal trainer. “When COVID hit, that ended my heavy workouts. Now, I have a stationary bicycle, and I lift five pounds,” she added.
Light weights, brisk walks and moderation
“I use very lightweight weights, but they’re good for your bones.” Eden also said regular walking remains part of her routine, though she is careful to keep the pace manageable. “If you can walk briskly, which suits me just fine, that’s good for you. It’s good for your knees and ankles. I find it better than running,” she explained. Alongside exercise, the actress credits balanced nutrition for supporting her health. She grew up with parents who valued mindful eating and wellness, and said her mother often repeated the guiding principle: “moderation of all things.”

Barbara Eden’s iconic genie role
“That’s how they lived, and that’s how I’ve lived.” Eden became a household name as the magical title character in I Dream of Jeannie, the beloved sitcom that ran from 1965 through 1970. She played a genie who emerged from a bottle and fell in love with her “master,” astronaut Tony Nelson, portrayed by Larry Hagman. Eden is now the only surviving member of the show’s principal cast. Her career began in 1956 as a sketch performer on The Johnny Carson Show.
Barbara Eden’s journey beyond Jeannie
After making early appearances on I Love Lucy and The Andy Griffith Show, Eden landed the role that would define her career. I Dream of Jeannie arrived amid the success of Bewitched, the Elizabeth Montgomery sitcom that premiered on a competing network in 1964. Jeannie’s costume also drew attention for challenging the television standards of its time: Eden could reveal her midriff, but the character’s navel had to remain covered. That restriction was lifted in 1983. Eden later revisited her remarkable journey in the 2011 memoir Jeannie Out of the Bottle and introduced younger readers to a magical world with the 2021 children’s book Barbara and the Djinn.
